The Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is designed for knowledge and practical skills that cover key components of Occupational Safety and Occupational Health. Program Educational Objectives (PEO) aims to produce graduates who are academically qualified and competent as Occupational Safety and Health Practitioners.
Graduates will be equipped with technical, problem-solving and scientific skills. Graduates will be expected to demonstrate commitment to the community and actively involved in safe work culture with professional attitudes, ethical conducts and social responsibilities. Graduates will also capable in embarking on business and technopreneurial activities. Student will learn courses include the Principles and Practices of OSH, OSH Legislations, Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Toxicology, OSH Risk Management, Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene, OSH Information and Data Management Systems, Behavior Based Safety, Fire Safety, Introduction to Ergonomics, Industrial Safety, Introduction to Epidemiology and Disease, Accident Investigation, Emergency Response Plan, OSH Management System and several optional courses.
At the end of the program, students will undergo industry training to gain real job experience in the industry. Graduates of this Diploma could further their studies in first degree in the relevant fields.
Job opportunities include Industrial Hygiene Technician (IHT), Fire Technician, Permit To Work (PTW) System Coordinator, Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) in the construction industry, Occupational Safety and Health Coordinator (OSHC) in the small and medium industries and Safety and Health Officer (SHO) in all industries. This program has been designed to meet the requirements and qualifications for registration as a SHO with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
